“I make art to invite curiosity, awaken the senses and create space for different ways of being.

I love exploring what becomes possible when we let go of expectations, embrace the unexpected and allow art to take shape through experimentation, play and participation.”

River Moore (they/he) is a multidisciplinary artist and creative facilitator based on Bundjalung Country in the Northern Rivers, NSW. Working across immersive installation, textiles, sculpture, painting and participatory art, their practice explores identity, sensory experience, interconnectedness and belonging.

Drawn to patterns and processes found in nature, River explores relationships between bodies, materials, environments and the more-than-human world. Their work incorporates reclaimed materials, organic forms and repetitive processes, embracing tactile exploration, transformation and the unexpected possibilities of experimentation.

Informed by their lived experiences of neurodivergence and queerness, River is interested in exploring different ways of making and engaging with art. Their practice invites play, participation and co-creation, creating space for alternative ways of relating to ourselves, one another and our surroundings. Accessibility, agency and choice are integral to this approach.

In December 2026, River will present Neuroqueering Space and Time, a commissioned immersive installation at Lismore Regional Gallery. Combining light, colour, tactile materials and playful spatial interventions, the work invites visitors to explore, rest and engage on their own terms, celebrating sensory difference, bodily autonomy and diverse ways of inhabiting space.

Alongside their independent practice, River works as a youth arts facilitator and contributes to collaborative, community-led creative projects, fostering experimentation, self-expression and connection.
